Italian Mountain Resort

If low prices, good food and an awesome ambience are important to you than the convenience of just skiing in and out are then Italy is just for you. As a destination, Italy is far more laid back than its rivals and your holiday will be full of fun and relaxation, as well as some skiing and other sports too, but it’s not about sporting excellence, it’s about having a good time, and is great for beginners or intermediate skiers. So if you’re a family then get ready to visit Italy instead. Families with young kids are welcome in even the most chic hotels and restaurants.

We can also tell you this, the in resort costs in Italy are way lower than that of its mainstream rivals, so you’ll have a great relaxing holiday with a good vibe and you won’t break the bank.

Forget Eastern Europe and even Andorra, as a budget destination the range and variety of slopes plus of course the unbelievable scenery puts Italy in a league of its own. Italy also attracts some of the best snow in Europe, surprising but true. Over the last couple of years, snow hasn’t been as abundant, but their snowmaking is the best in Europe and even in the driest winter you can still be assured of great conditions on the slopes.

A hidden gem is the Livigno Mountain Resort which is, well, simply stunning and as a resort and has quite frankly some of the best scenery in the world, without a doubt.

The Livigno Mountain Resort is fairly inaccessible when it comes to resorts in Europe. It takes about three hours to get there from Innsbruck and is about a 2 hour drive from the closest airport. But, don’t let that put you off, as its well worth the journey when you get there, not just for its fantastic snow cover, the awesome parks but its low prices too. It is a breath-taking place to be!

The Livigno Mountain Resort is a remote village that stretches out along 10km of mountain road, which comes to its end in winter at anintoxicating 1,816m, very close to the Swiss border. With all this awesomeness that surrounds Livigno, it’s hardly surprising that it’s nicknamed ‘Little Tibet’, it has certainly earned this title.

For skiers it’s great for beginners and intermediates, so you don’t have to be an Olympic gold winner to hit the slopes here. In summer Livigno comes alive with nature where you’ll be treated to the glorious scenes of the Alps, lakes and luscious greenery with plenty of activities to do. As a mountain resort, Livigno tops our list.

As if that wasn’t enough there’s more! Livigno has a special tax status, which actually dates all the way back to Napoleonic times. There’s no VAT which makes drinks, petrol and all consumer goods some of the cheapest in Europe. Your wallet will be singing praises of thanks to you!

In this gorgeous mountain resort, there’s way more to do than just skiing of course. Mountain bikers have a vastarea of valleys to cross, where they can discover historic itineraries in the company of the gorgeous natural surroundings. Trekkers can challenge the ups-and-downs of the commanding mountains, as can mountaineers and climbers. If you’re there in winter the Husky Village will allow both adults and kids the experience and excitement of dog sledding. In summer this is also a tourist hotspot, as the fresh and crisp mountain air draws holiday makers from all over to escape the smog of the cities.
